Hera Sailing Yacht

Hera

Hera is a concept sailing yacht inspired by the J-Class racing sailboats built in the 1930s. The design is defined by two intersecting volumes. A deck volume flows over the hull from the bow towards the steering position, where the deck wraps around the hull and forms integrated rudders. The hull has controlled surfaces inspired by automotive design, with highlights running along the sides. The intersection of the two volumes creates the daylight openings and holds the supports for the steering wheels. Hera measures 48 metres in length and is built in lightweight carbon composite.

Hera Sailing Yacht by Nicola Mondini was identified as an outstanding example of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Hera Sailing Yacht won the Bronze A' Design Award in Yacht and Marine Vessels Design in 2020. The A' Yacht and Marine Vessels Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design accolade that rewards superior design of sailboats, motor yachts, catamarans, trimarans, superyachts, explorer yachts, sportfishing yachts, luxury houseboats and more.
